My trip down smoking lane.

I know I need to quit smoking. How many more warnings do I need before it becomes too late. I,ve had several bouts of pneumonia and even double pneumonia. I still didn,t stop. I saw a pulmonary specilist, had a CTdone of my lungs and was told I had a mild form of Idiopathatic Pulmonary Fibrosis. I still didn,t stop. I have had a nagging, wet, raspy and productive cough for over 6 months. I,m still puffing away. All of this and I,m a retired nurse. I know better dammit!! Not only am I coughing 24/7, but I,m horribly congested and I,m wheezing like an old freight train. I,ve tried everything. You name it and I,ve tried it. Patches, Pills, gum, staples in my ears, hypnosis, cold turkey, slacking off, everything. Nothing worked for me. If anyone has any other ideas I wish they would enlighten me.

Thoughts from the front porch

I,m sitting here tonight trying to think about what I really want to write. My thoughts are everywhere. I worked over thirty years as a nurse and was forced into retirement in 2001 due to a severe back injury. Thats when all my dreams ended.

Mama,s Recipes

My mother, who is really my Aunt, taught me how to cook, so I wanted to start a blog showing as many of her recipes as I could remember. I will start with her spaghetti recipe.
I use 1 1/2 lbs. of lean ground beef
1 lg. onion-diced.
1 lg. green bell pepper- chopped small.
1 small can of mushroom pieces or 1/2 c. fresh-chopped mushrooms.
2 small cans Tomato paste
1 reg. size can diced tomatoes.
1/2 box regular or thin dry spaghetti.
3 cloves chopped garlic or 3 tbs. garlic powder.
2 tbs. ground italian seasoning or Oregano.
Brown ground beef in large pot with onions and bell peppers-drain grease. Put back on stove and add mushrooms and seasonings. Stir well and cook for a few minutes. Add tomato paste and diced tomatoes. Add 3 tbs. sugar. This is to offset the acid in the tomatoes. Add two cans water from the diced tom. cans. Set burner to low and let simmer for 2-3 hours. In another lg. pot boil water as usual and add dry spaghetti and boil until done- drain water and add sauce to spaghetti or you can spoon sauce over plain spaghetti in the plate. Serve with salad and Garlic bread. Yum! Yum! Enjoy!
